The NBA 2010 Finals start this weekend and it is looking exciting. The Western conference is stacked and extremely difficult to pick a possible winner whilst the Eastern conference is probably between two teams.
Now is the time to sign up to the NBA drive to the finals ( http://fantasy.nba.com/drive ) game (ukballers group). You choose 1 player per day from the games being played and you can only pick them once throughout the finals. Obviously it is not a good idea to pick Kobe or Lebron in the first round as they are likely to progress far into the finals.
It is important then to pick the players from the teams that you think are going out sooner rather than later. My prediction for the playoff teams are:
Generally I have looked at the teams series during the season and gone with the team who has won their series. There are some exceptions especially when the series was tied.
Controversial predictions:
- Magics over Cavs: 2-2 on the year but personal preference to see the Magic in the Finals made this prediction.
- Mavs over Lakers: 2-2 on the year, but, how the Lakers played in the last month was not impressive and Mavs picked up some good new players before the trade deadline.
- Celtics to sweep Heat: 3-0 on the year. A team with D.Wade on it should win at least one game, however, I can’t be bothered editing the image above and I don’t think they’ll get past the 1st round.
- Suns over Blazers: 1-2 on the year. Roy maybe out for the first series for the Blazers and the Suns have been playing great. Suns will probably goto next round.
The West is so hard to predict so I will be mainly looking at picking players from the predicted losing teams in the East to start with until we see how the West pans out. Will be looking at players from Bobcats, OKC, Heat and Bucks in that order.

Cant really argue with these predictions. Conference finals will be very exciting. Dont sleep on Phoenix!

I knew you wouldn’t agree with it. :) Are you expecting a Lakers vs Cavs final? It is highly possible/likely.
You think Suns might get knocked out in first round?

Watch out for the Suns guys, we’ve had the best record since the Allstar break (win % equivelant to a 65 win season), and been on an absolute tear to finish 2010! Unfortunatly, so have Dallas, and I think they pose the biggest threat from the West right now. A Conf. final meeting with LA should be immense! I see you picked ur boys to win it all John! I think they’ll do well, but inevitably, bow down to King James… ;)

Hey Andy, yeah, Suns have been playing great lately. Looking forward to seeing some of their games. I agree that the chances are it will be Lakers vs Cavs, but, hoping for Mavs vs Magic for the drive to the finals game.
