PS3 firmware update

Firmware update 3.00 was released for the PS3 today.
The playstation firmware site hasn’t updated yet with all the changes, but, some of them are below.  This article “PlayStation 3 Firmware (v3.00) Update” says:

PS3 slim announcement and release date

Sony have announced that the Playstation 3 Slim will be released on the 1st of September 2009.

In an interesting move, Sony, will be removing the ability to install other operating systems on the unit to focus on just playing games and entertainment.

Synology 209+ bluray m2ts (mpg) file indexing issues

Previously when I tried to rip one of my Blu Ray disks to a .m2ts file on the DS209+ and tried to view it via the PS3 (uPNP on Synology 209+) I had to contact Synology support as it broke indexing completely on the DS209+.
